The Stars…Not As Far as They Used To Be
May 14, 2008
The weirdest feeling in the world is being in one place pending the advancement to another new frontier. “Frontier” could mean another city, state, country, job position, status change, etc. Whatever “frontier” means to you, the common association of the word for this post is “unfamiliar territory.”
It strikes the average individual as exciting and surreal. Anxiety (the good kind), anticipation, and joy mixed with the latter and rush over the body as a wave created from a whale dropped from a helicopter…sometimes at different moments, sometimes all at once.
A level of accomplishment settles over you like the last lap of a cross country race, or the finishing touches of a project. The “task” isn’t complete but the situation up to this point has been kicking your ass, and deserves to be acknowledged with the feeling that stem from the words, ”Wow, almost done. Almost there”. Just saying those words aloud gives you the injection of energy, hope, or passion (choose what best describes your experience) to complete the final stage(s) with the same amount of “gumption” you had starting the “task”.
I’m not speaking about the times/tasks/projects that you complete and move on to the next one with the “NEXT” mentality. I’m speaking about the “thing” that, in its completion, changed you somehow; made you see things differently; made you “grow”; defined your purpose/reasoning/beliefs; or utter the words, “I wouldn’t do it that way again, but I’m glad I finished.”
Normally people who don’t have a clue what’s being discussed here have stayed within their comfort zones. Taking on “challenges” in your life that seemed “hard” isn’t what’s being addressed here. Creating a creation or opportunity that challenges you to do something uncomfortable (not talking moral here), daring, and unorthodox in order to attain what makes sense to you and only you. Creating something that people ”get” later, once they see it, is what we’re speaking on.
We’re talking situations where the only advice you’re getting is, “That’s not going to work like that/That’s dumb/It’s YOUR bad idea, not mine, so I don’t mind supporting your dream. When your failure snaps you back to reality, I’ll be here to listen.” (Verbatim)
Right now is one of those moments for me and RandomStarMusic.com. I’m not done yet, but it’s deserving of the “Wow” comment. I have a few bruises, couple wounds and war stories, but I see the finish line. And upon approaching the final lap, I’ve received the injection of adrenaline to complete this “thing” with just as much “passion” as I started it with.
Looking up…it’s a beautiful night…the stars don’t look as far as they used to be.
HA-HA-HA, Too funny: We’re talking situations where the only advice you’re getting is, “That’s not going to work like that/That’s dumb/It’s YOUR bad idea, not mine, so I don’t mind supporting your dream. When your failure snaps you back to reality, I’ll be here to listen.” (Verbatim)
Were these D. Jordan’s words to you? Sounds like him. (smile) Love You!
